Amy Kelly met with Calvin Cobb and learned about the duties he performs as a Tooele County Facilities Management employee. He was nominated by his supervisors to receive this award which was given by TooeleTV.com. He received a gift basket and also shared cake with his co-workers.

THS Theatre Presents High School Musical

Amy Kelly met with Scott Henrie, director of the Tooele High School production of High School Musical and learned more about the play and also about his background. Also, the lead actors discuss their experience with the production. A unique aspect of this show was that some teachers and staff at THS were also part of the cast.

Grantsville Woman Has 4000 Salt and Pepper Shakers

Chante Wouden met with Helen Crosby in Grantsville and learned about her amazing collection of almost 4000 salt and pepper shakers. For years, Helen has collected shakers and has several curio cabinets filled with them. Many are like small works of art. About 2000 of them are gifts that she has received. Also, Helen talks about her childhood in Georgia where her family worked hard on a farm.

Amy Kelly met with Tooele resident Marlene Long at the Van Horssen Family Reunion and learned how she is keeping her Dutch heritage alive by sharing it with the newer generation. Marlene, her siblings, and their parents arrived by boat from Holland in September 1956. At the reunions they enjoy each other's company and also share Dutch language, music, food, traditions, and Christmas events.

Festival of Lights 2013 at Stansbury High School

Amy Kelly met with Rod Lundwall at the annual Stansbury High School "Festival of Lights". This is a fundraising project in which items such as trees are decorated and the public can bid on them in a silent auction. The money is given to the Tooele County Food Bank utility assistance fund to help local families stay warm.

Grantsville Family Saving for Autism Service Dog

Amy Kelly met with Christine Johnson and learned about the service dog they are trying to get to help their son Dillon with his autism. They are hoping to get the dog sometime next year, but are still short of the necessary funds. The dog will be able to help Dillon when he is having seizures and it will also go to school with him.

The library is a "monument to communication" according to the mayor as he tells the story of how it came to be. Tigers Tae Kwon Do in Erda is Exercise With a Kick

Melanie Chacon met with Master Moon and JiWon Moon at Tigers Tae Kwon Do in Erda, Utah. Tae Kwon Do emphasizes the use of kicks for self-defense and also includes strength and endurance training with exercises. As students increase in skill, they move up 12 steps until they receive a black belt.
